350.org Australia

ReRu has worked consistently with the Australian team of the global organisation 350.org founded by environmentalist Bill Mckibben since it’s beginning. We have documented and distributed its events to global online audiences, news outlets and to the global 350.org network. We have also produced their campaign videos and crowd funding videos so that they may continue their valuable work in combatting the fossil fuel industry and climate change.

In 2014, when the Pacific Warriors visited Australia from 15 pacific island nations, ReRu was there to document the blockade of the Newcastle coal port. The network of young Pacific Islanders from Niue to Tuvalu want to empower young people to understand the issue of climate change and to take action to protect and enrich their islands’ cultures and oceans. In 2014, they travelled to Australia after learning the skills of canoe building for their owners to stand peacefully and powerfully to the fossil fuel industry in Australia as warriors for their islands.

The 2011 Australian Day of Action video shows the variety of community activities promoting a climate-safe lifestyle.

We donĀ“t do spin. Instead, we are part of the solution.
