Papua Nui Guini and Ecoforestry
From the inception of Greenpeace Australia Pacific’s Ecoforestry project in Lake Murray, PNG ReRu has supported the project with their documentation and video production. At one stage Dean and Michelle curated an exhibition of the video and photo work in support of the project and to help Greenpeace fundraise.
Ecoforestry is a viable alternative for the traditional landowners in PNG and neighbouring Pacific Islands who are exploited by large multinational logging companies who engage in illegal practices to support this trade which results in violation of human rights and environmental destruction of these beautiful lands which support the villages sustainably.
The Lake Murray project was a model project which helped train many other traditional land owners in the South East Asia Region and the video not only served as international news and campaign material but also training and motivational productions. Dean also documented similar issues in West Papua and Indonesia for Greenpeace.
