Slave Ships in the Pacific

In early 2015 Michelle and Brad travelled to Fiji for Greenpeace International with a translator to investigate and document testimonials from Pacific tuna fishermen detailing the horrible conditions they’ve worked under. The project was undertaken to expose the poor state of the global fishing industry and to educate consumers as to where their seafood actually comes from attempting to demonstrate the chain of custody of the vessels to certain brands.

The interviews were difficult to conduct due to the fishermen risking the lives of their families and themselves to talk to the camera. Many were masked in edit to distribute to  international news and as part of an international campaign by the US branch of Greenpeace. Participants revealed incidents of abuse, inadequate or nonexistent pay, food and sleep deprivation and even murder.

We don´t do spin. Instead, we are part of the solution.
